Hi Paul,

I'm a taxi driver in Scarborough and in December 2018 I was driving back from a drop off in Harwood Dale at about 00:15 a.m.

I was travelling down Hay Lane just entering the edge of Scalby village when approximately 15 foot in front of the car, a large black cat came out of a field on my right.

It bounded across the road and down the side of a small block of flats on the left side.



I work permanent nights and see all kinds of wildlife whilst working, and I'm quite used to having, domestic cats, foxes, badgers and deer run out in front of me. It's always a pleasure to see these animals, even if I do have to hit the brakes hard occasionally.

It was most definitely a jet black cat with quite a long body and a thicker, longer tail than a domestic cat.

But this time seeing this creature, which was as big as Labrador dog, appear in front of me, instantly made the hairs on the back of neck stand up, and I felt my eyes widen and fix on the big cat.
