As promised, here’s the detail on something unusual I saw when driving home last night.

I was driving along the B1249 heading southbound after finishing my late shift at work. When I got to the Octon roundabout, I turned right onto the B1253 towards Sledmere.

A few seconds after turning onto the B1253, I saw a strange bright white light in the sky appear into view. The time was 23.31 hours on 10/05/2025. I would estimate this light was up in the sky at an angle of about 35 degrees above the horizon from where i was looking at it, and again I would estimate it probably being over the area of sky in the area of Stamford Bridge not far from the city of York.

The light just appeared from nowhere, and I would describe this as unusual, being of a noticeable elliptical shape which was orientated vertically, again quite unusual. As fast as this bright shape came into view, it quickly faded out and disappeared. I would say it was only visible for two to three seconds. Its arrival and disappearance would be similar to those lights we witnessed at the same time out over the North Sea, where they don’t fly in and then fly out, they just appear.
