Hi Paul,
These are some photos of a strange object that was moving along a con trail of a plane that had passed several minutes earlier.
It was the 27th May 2020, I was off work and sat in my garden (on the outskirts of Chesterfield).
It was a sunny day with hardly any wind and I was enjoying the sun and oddly I was hoping to see something unusual in the sky. I had my very powerful astronomical binoculars with me (80x20) and before this object I had seen a round whiteish ball with a strange golden light going around it. It looked to the naked eye like a glinting light but obviously I could see the detail through the binoculars. That object took about five minutes to go right across the sky.
Then another glint caught my eye starting at the same place as the last in the same con trail. I looked at it for about five minutes through the binnocs and it was changing shape constantly.
I phoned my son who lives about fifteen miles away to see if he could see it but he couldn't; he asked if I could photograph it, so I ran to get my camera and took some shots. I had a 200mm telephoto lens on, but it was impossible to try and focus properly so I just made a few slight adjustments around infinity, so possibly none of the shots are in proper focus. But it certainly shows something I've never seen before.
Maybe it could be gasses in the con trail but I've never seen this before and the other object was definitely not gasses. I held the camera in the normal position for all the photos (not turning it sideways) and the object/lights took about thirty five mins to go all the way across the sky.
Kind regards,
Andrew W
