Truth Proof Report 272 ~ loud flapping of wings and shrieking

2021 Porthcurno, Cornwall

Hi Paul.

I’ve been randomly looking at some of your videos on you tube for a year or so, with myself having an interest in all things weird and wonderful.

I hadn’t seen more than one or two of your live streams, and then only a few days after the event, and I also purchased the Wolflands film you made. My voracious appetite for all things, as I said, weird and wonderful has diminished of late, but your show - I think it was last Thursday - came up on my feed and I ended up watching it live. I thought it was very interesting, and I love the way you do it all. Another one of your videos popped up on my feed tonight; you were walking around Danes Dyke and something you said made my ears prick up.

It was when you mentioned a visitor to the dyke hearing heavy wing beating-like sounds.

I had a similar experience down in Porthcurno in Cornwall, probably about ten years ago.

It happened on a holiday I took with my parents, me being in my late forties back then. We would go away once a year, Yorkshire and Cornwall being our favourite destinations. I was very interested in the landscape back then and was dowsing quite a lot, looking at crop circles, interested in the paranormal ufos etc. Throughout my life I have had a few strange things happen, from ufo sightings, and having a good eye for synchronicities.

I unfortunately failed to make sense of it all and around the time of covid seemed to take a step away from it.

Anyhow we had rented an apartment in what used to be a hotel and had been converted to maybe eight or ten apartments, just a stones throw from the Minack theatre not quite on the cliffs, but set back maybe 75 yards to a 100 yards from them. I can’t remember what we had been doing that day, but we had gone to bed and I was still awake, and I would say it was probably between midnight and around 4am. It was a long time ago now, suffice to say it was the wee small hours. I remember thinking it’s really windy outside almost storm-like, and then I heard what I initially thought was the sound of very heavy wings flapping in the distance.

It was a rhythmic flapping but they sounded massive, my mind instantly thought of a tarpaulin flapping as I tried to rationalise the sound. But no, it was obviously a very large pair of wings getting louder and louder and closer and closer over what must have been half a minute or so until whatever it was had arrived outside my window. I assumed it was sitting on the wall that was outside the window.

By this time it felt like the hair on my head was standing on end, and laughably I grabbed a penknife I used to keep in my rucksack when I went on walks, just in case I ever needed it.

And I knelt there on the bed holding the penknife, with about 49% of me saying go on have a look and open the curtains and 51% of me too scared to do it.

It was at that point that it started to emit an ear piercing shriek, an unbelievably loud sound that I can only compare to an express train going at full speed right next to the bedroom window. It was as though it was willing me to open the curtains and look and I regret that I didn’t have the courage to do so. I just sat on the bed on my knees like a lemon holding my penknife.

After what seemed like a minute or two of shrieking it stopped and then the wings started flapping again and it took off, and the wingbeats slowly faded as it flew off until I couldn’t hear them any more.

I then sort of relaxed from my extremely heightened state but still didn’t look out of the window. I mulled it over the next few days thinking maybe I heard a banshee and then thinking, no they don’t fly, do they?

I can’t remember how much sleep I got that night but as all this was going on I remember thinking the bedroom door is going to burst open and in would come my parents trying to find out what this unbelievably loud shrieking was, and they would see me kneeling on the bed facing the window with a penknife. When I got up and went into the dining area the next morning, they were sitting there calmly eating breakfast doing crosswords as they normally do, and I thought they didn’t hear it did they.

I made myself some breakfast and sat down and said, "Did you here that noise last night?". "What noise?", they said. I think I just sort of changed the subject, thinking that if I told them what happened they would probably think I had dreamt it, and I said it must have been the wind or something.

I found it curious they never heard a thing when they were just a few yards away but what I heard would have woken up everyone and everything within a couple of hundred yards.

In the time after I can’t help thinking that I failed a test that night or failed to make a connection that was maybe important by not looking to see what it was. After all nothing bad happened to me, and it wasn’t that far away. I have no desire for any attention seeking Paul, and I’ve maybe told 2 or 3 people that story but with not much response other than a raised eyebrow. I did mention the whole thing to my parents at a later date to see if they really didn’t hear anything, but no they don’t recall anything happening that night.

After hearing you mention the heavy flapping wings, I just felt the urge to actually tell someone who has an interest in this sort of thing.

I’ve got a UFO sighting from when I was at school I want to tell you about, it was in the mid seventies and it was cigar-shaped. I believe this was a period in time when cigar shaped craft were spotted quite often, and there was a bit of interaction with it on my part, and it was witnessed by my teacher after I ran inside and told him that there was something strange in the sky. He came out and saw it, and he then ran and got the headmaster who also saw it, but I’ll send you that in the next day or so if you are interested.

All the best Paul, glad I came across your video tonight. I did write this experience down albeit a few years after the event, 28th April 2021 it says on top of the page, just have to go back through old digital photos of the holiday to be precise.

Best wishes Brian

Paul: Tha nk you for a detailed report, Brian. As you are probably aware similar events have taken place in east Yorkshire. And, yes, please tell us your UFO story. Great that you got members of staff to witness it too. Maybe parallels the Welsh Broadhaven sighting of 1977.
