Truth Proof Report 300 ~ festivities in an empty haunted house

Just a little story I'd love to share with you.

When I was about 13, so around 1982, I had the good fortune to stay on a large farming estate, 4,500 acres, here in Portaferry, County Down. ( N.Ireland).

My uncle was the farm manager, and basically ran the estate. It was called Nugent's Estate and has existed for hundreds of years. It's now a massive pig farm.

Anyhow, my aunt and uncle were having their house renovated, so they had moved into the old servants' quarters adjacent to the "big house" which was the centre piece of the estate. It was a Georgian country mansion built in the mid 18th century. The last surviving member of the Nugents, Lady Nugent, had been put in a nursing home, so it was now empty.

Anyway, it was the middle of summer and the local gala was on in Portaferry, so my mum and her two sisters had went into town for a few bevvys, which left myself, my uncle and my cousin Phillip in the servants' courtyard.

Around 1am they returned and we all went to bed. We were all sleeping in one large bedroom as most of the other rooms were becoming a bit decrepit through being derelict for many decades. My mum and sisters were waffling and laughing away about the nights events as we all lay in bed. Then suddenly we could all hear music and the sound of hundreds of conversations; all coming from the empty mansion house. The servants courtyard was directly behind it, separated by maybe 20 yards.

We all looked at each other and became deathly quiet. We could hear violins, cellos, laughing and the constant murmur of conversations being held. It sounded exactly like a large social ball was being held.

Then after about a minute it slowly faded into complete silence. Not a whisper.

It's one of the craziest things I've ever experienced. There were 6 of us in that room and we all heard it. The estate is well known to be haunted and myself and my friends and family have had numerous experiences on it.
